The 55@5th Idea : Arts & Crafts

Due to the tough economic times, a lot of people do small arts and crafts from their homes to add to the household income.

Most households have only one breadwinner that earns a salary. This salary is most of the time at the going minimum rate per hour. And some households do not have any salary income…Many of these households, rely on arts & crafts or reselling of items to earn somewhat of an income.

If you do arts and crafts, like I am, you might agree that it takes up a lot of time and space, but nothing is more satisfying than to create.

But these creations must sell for one to have an income.

Apart from the tough economic times, it is also just not safe to invite strangers to your home to look at and possibly buy from you. Especially if you have children in the house.

Flee markets are a good idea and I personally love walking around flee markets, but you must pay for the stall and pay for a babysitter if you have small children, as not all flee markets are safe for our babies. And one cannot give all your attention to your clients if you have a baby that demands your attention.

I will sell your creations in my shop. You do not have to deal with strangers in your home, I will deal with them in my shop. I will advertise your product, with all the other products, on my social media sites.

You can keep your details on your products, you can keep advertising your products, but when you liaison with your potential clients, you refer them to the shop address. Then you stay safe and earn an income.

You might ask me: ‘What is in it for you?’

No, I will not charge you for renting shelf space. All I ask is a small commission, and that, when I post something new on social media regarding the shop and its products, that you share it with your friends.

Interested? Give me a call or drop me a WhatsApp.

I am willing to take anything with an extended shelf life – like rusks, cookies, canned fruit and veggies, homemade jams and marmalades, clothing, and other sewing items. Portraits, wood craft, clay craft, garden statues of signs… You tell me what you do, and I will see how I can help you.
